     Ukaranian Easter Eggs "Pysanky"The billboard positioned on the North side of the Ukrainian Cultural Institure (UCI) holds this message:  "Unique items in the Gift Shop".  Visitors to UCI have the opportunity to purchase many one of a kind gift items.  Items which may be found on display and for sale include:
  • Pysanky - Ten local artists have consigned pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) which are created by using the wax-resist method.  Each pysanky (singular) is rich in color and design.  The symbols and colors on the pysanky have a significant meaning.  Prices range from $20.00 to $45.00 for chicken eggs.  On ostrich egg pysanky price begins at $150.00.
    The contents of the pysanky (eggs) are blown out.  This makes shipping of the pysanky less hazardous.  UCI had shipped pysanky throughout the continental United Sates.  Click here for more information about Pysanky.
     
  • Pysanka (Easter Egg) Decorating Kits - Are you an aspiring pysanka artist?  Order the supplies you will need to create your very own pysanka.  We have a variety of sizes of pysanka kits starting with Embroidered clothing and table linensthe very basic kits which include one stylus (kistka), one block of beeswax, three packages of dye and an instruction sheet.  The largest kits contain three styluses, one block of beeswax, twelve packages of dye and several instruction sheets.  Prices range from $6.00 to $18.00.
     
  • Embroidery - The Gift Shop offers a variety of colorful and intricately embroidered pieces which have been ordered from a contact in Ukraine.  Men's shirts, women's blouses, tablecloths, table runners and doilies, pillow covers, and dresser scarves are available.
     
  • CeramicsCeramic pieces - in red and black geometric patterns on a white background can be found at UCI.  Serving bowls, vases, coffee cups, candle holders are examples of what is offered for sale.
     
  • Matroshky - (Stacking Dolls) - are a popular item.  Beautifully painted stacking dolls catch the eye of many children and adults.  The number of pieces in a set of stacking dolls ranges from five to seven.  Prices range from $22.00 to $130.00.
     
  • Varenyky/pyrohy - (Cheese Buttons) Now they are available Filled with Potatoes or Cottage Cheese!
